Last week I was lucky enough to get these gems through the post which I was more than a little bit excited about as I can't wait to see the films this summer.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
movie with this official companion book. This fan favorite features
full-color photos from the set, designers’ sketches, interviews with the
cast and crew, and more! From the screenwriting process to the casting
decisions to the director’s vision, this definitive book is a must-have
for fans of the blockbuster film
Featuring full-colour photographic portraits and profiles of the film characters, quotes from the script, detailed information on downworlders, Shadowhunters, the Clave, and more. Fans of the movie won't want to miss this must-have guide to the realm of the blockbuster City of Bones movie
After looking at them both I came away thinking the following things.
Firstly quite honestly there isn't much too them apart from a series of gorgeous pictures. Text wise there isn't a lot and while I found it interesting as a avid Cassie Clare fan I'm not sure those not as keen would be that fussed. That said I suspect they would both be very good for those teens who don't read / haven't read the series as a nice introduction to the world before they saw the film or a nice reminder after they've seen it. Also I do think the official guide is far better in quality than the shadowhunters guide so if you were torn between the two that'd be the one I'd go for.
A nice addition to the film and a must for avid fans.
