So I suck at audio books....

So about 6 weeks ago I was offered very kindly a couple of audio books for review from the lovely people at Audio Go. I was incredibly excited about it because not only were they a couple of book I love but also I thought it would something different for me to do whilst in the middle of broken leg recovery (which involves sitting in one spot from 7am - 10pm all day every day, not reccomended at all).

However apparently I suck at audio books. I just can't concentrate on them. I'll sit listening to them but find myself completely zoning out and missing bits and I don't know why. It's not the story because it was a book I loved and it isn't the quality of the recording because the bits I listened to were excellent.

So to cut a long story short if you like audio books Audio Go is  brilliant website for them and very easy to use and the quality of book is good however it really isn't the way to enjoy books for me!

If it makes you feel better, I such t them too. We discovered I was a visual learner rather than and audio one and I have never been able to take anything in unless I see it in black and white.

My son recently said the same thing. He has a long commute, and decided he'd try audiobooks. He couldn't concentrate on the books. It's OK. You have to do what works for you.
I hate the narrators voices. Sometimes they are so different than how you imagined them to be that it spoils my fantasy. :(
I can't do it either. The one time I successfully listened to an audio book I had to get the hard copy and read-along with the audio. Kind of defeated the purpose!

I go through phases... sometimes I can concentrate on them and sometimes I can't. I find it best to listen during long drives. :)

I have the same problem with audio books. They can be great for certain people and certain situations, but not for me. I zone out and need something else to do other than just listen. Too easy to get distracted, I think.
I have the same problem! It doesn't go fast enough for my taste and I can't concentrate. I've tried several books in different situations, but it doesn't work out for me.

I think I got the same email and had to turn it down becuase I knew I'd have the same problem, only way id ever listen to an audiobook is if I was alone on a very long car journey!

I know all you guys seem to dislike audiobooks, but I love a good one! I'm kind of an imsomniac (a little bit) so I stay up all night reading or listening to podcasts - which might be why I like them. But they're only good when the narrator has the right voice - e.g. Stephen Fry with Harry Potter :)
