One Moment by Kristina McBride
Published by Egmont USA
This was supposed to be the best summer of Maggie’s life. Now it’s the one she’d do anything to forget.
Maggie Reynolds remembers hanging out at the gorge with her closest friends after a blowout party the night before. She remembers climbing the trail hand in hand with her perfect boyfriend, Joey. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. So why can’t she remember what happened in the moment before they were supposed to dive? Why was she left cowering at the top of the cliff, while Joey floated in the water below—dead?
As Maggie’s memories return in snatches, nothing seems to make sense. Why was Joey acting so strangely at the party? Where did he go after taking her home? And if Joey was keeping these secrets, what else was he hiding?

I'm not sure this was the book for me. I picked it up because I was craving some contemporary YA fiction but I don't think it really hit the spot for me.
The problem I had with this book was I really didn't connect in any way at all with the main character Maggie with whom the reader should have been feeling sorry for. I disliked her friends (except Adam) and her boyfriend and this didn't really change through the entire book. I think it says a lot that in order to write this review I had to actually look up the main character's name even though I only finished it yesterday.
I found the plot slow and uninteresting which meant by the end I really only was skimming over the pages so I could finish. One thing I didn't get (and granted this isn't a fault of the book at all) was the whole open casket scene. Was it it me or was that a bit grim. It seems to be an American thing. I sure as hell would never go to a funeral if I had to see the dead person laying there.
The only thing I can say I really did like about this book was Adam. I loved him as a character and I loved seeing him develop as the book went on and generally thought he was a bit of sweetheart.
All in all not a book I'd recommend one way or the other and certainly not one I'd rush to read again.
