breaking up is hard to do ....

I don't intend on doing these type of posts often but I thought it might be nice to do one especially for my readers who have seen a book in one of my In my Mailbox posts and are awaiting a review.

These are the books I didn't get on with this year and gave up on and why...

Thirteen reasons why by Jay Asher.

I took this camping with me and boy did I try (especially as I had nothing else to read) but I found the character really irritating to the point I was glad that she was dead. Gave up half way through

Burned by PC and Kristen Cast

I feel a little cheated when I think about this series. I read the earlier ones and liked them but got to the point where I wanted to scream at the later ones. I feel like I should continue with them just to find out what happens but I'm not sure if I can put myself through it.

Eyes like stars by Lisa Mantchev

I wanted to love this book I really did. I love the cover and still have it on my bookshelves despite not getting on with it when I usually pass them on. I just found that the Shakespeare side really turned me off (and brought back the nightmares that was High School English - when I was young I wanted to work with books in some way or other, High English destroyed that dream)

Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris

I picked up this series despite not liking the TV series all that much because I had heard good things about it. However I am rubbish with adult books and get bored very quickly. I might go back to them as I have all 10 ready to read but I do a lot of other things that will take priority over them

Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro

I was recommended this by two people - another one that fell foul of my inability to focus on adult books.

The Hollow by Jessica Verday

This book wasn't bad just slow and I had some many other things to read that I gave up on it for something with a bit more pace. I liked the ideas about it and the main characters. I even have the second book read to read too!

Forget her Nots by Amy Brecount White

I picked this up without knowing too much about it - it was when I first started blogging and got a bit obsessed and ordered loads (especially debut authors) - I have since learnt to read a bit more about the book first! I really couldn't get into it because it was flowery and girly. This is probably really unfair but I just don't do girly and flowery.

Presenting Lenore

Disconnected by Sherry Ashworth

I can sum this book up in two sentences. Ungrateful spoilt teenager moans about her perfect life. Said teenager needs to wake up and realise how good she has it!

I get enough ungrateful teenager moaning at work. I do not need it at home. On the flipside I spend an awful lot of teenagers who have actually problems who never moan about them - these superstars should have books written about them

This is a really interesting post and something I might do in a bit if you don't mind. It's always fun to see what someone didn't like and the reasons why. I'm sad you didn't like 13 Reasons Why but I know some people don't. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Always interesting to see what you can't get through - sometimes there are just too many books waiting to be read to force you're way through a book you're not enjoying!
Great post. I do a book break-ups too, just to show that I dont read and enjoy everything otherwise I am just one huge fan-girl blog LOL :D
Thank you for the link as I did love Eyes like Stars
Haha :) I really didn't get on with Thirteen Reasons Why either and I'm not sure I'll like continuing on with the House of Night series either..

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get on with Sookie or Never Let Me Go. I loved both of those.

I know what you mean about Thirteen Reasons Why.
I read it a few months ago and well, I was expecting this great book but it was...boring. And that girl was so annoying and weird.

It was just...bad.
Eyes Like Stars really intrigues me and I have it on my wishlist. I'm a big Shakespeare fan so that's what attracted me to it originally.

I agree with you on the Sookie Stackhouse book - I'm not a fan of the series either.

I have several books on my couldn't-get-into-it list, so you aren't the only one! I wasn't impressed by Eyes Like Stars either, although I do like Shakespeare. Sorry to hear your high school experience ruined it for you :(
